Study Abroad? Stay Together!

​Studying abroad is an adventure that can change your life. Discovering new places, connecting with different cultures, and embracing new customs – it’s a chance to broaden your horizons. But let’s be real: it can also feel a bit overwhelming or even lonely at times. The good news? You don’t have to go through it alone. With the Global Hearts Club, you’ll stay connected, inspired, and make your study abroad experience truly unforgettable!  

 

What is the Global Hearts Club?  

You and five fellow students will form your own Global Hearts Club. Through the Circles of Understanding app, you’ll have access to a private club space – a friendly and secure platform to chat, share ideas, and encourage each other.  

 

And there’s more!

During your time abroad, you’ll receive a fun and insightful challenge every four days. These small tasks are designed to help you make the most of your adventure. You decide when to complete them, then share your experiences with your group. It’s a fun way to learn together, support one another, and build your skills as a global citizen.  

 

Free membership 

Yes, you read that correctly: membership in the Global Hearts Club is free. The initiative is funded through grants and sponsorships, and that will remain that way. Why? Because the Academy of Understanding values student well-being and mutual understanding. And because the organizations that make it financially possible are eager to invest in the global citizens of the future.​

 

How does it work?  

1. Sign up below: Form a group of six students (including you) heading abroad at the same time, or sign up individually, and we’ll match you with a great group, preferably from your home university!

2. Get acquainted: Once registered, you’ll be invited to an online introduction session where you’ll meet your group and download the app. 

​

3. Start the challenges: One week after your study abroad begins, the challenges kick off! 

​

4. Stay connected: Midway through and at the end of your time abroad, there’s a progress meeting with a moderator from the Academy of Understanding, and the app remains your digital home base throughout your time abroad.
